Interactive Feature: yay or nay? | 30 Days of April #16

Hey, it’s me- coming at you in just a nick of time! I’ve been just completely transfixed with Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine (which I just finished btw, LOVED IT!). I don’t see every book like a movie in my head. But I completely lost myself in Eleanor Oliphant and it was easy to imagine myself as a bystander watching her narrative unfold.  It also got me thinking what if could add an interactive feature to this book, what would it be?

Definitely sound effects. Eleanor is hilarious with her blunt, “say what’s on your mind” kind of way. The situations she found herself in, for example the scene where she ended up in a heavy metal gig by accident. Gosh I wish I could have played it out loud!

I think interactive features would be a great addition to paperbacks. I believe there are interactive book covers already, why not add some more fun into the book with some not so hidden “Easter eggs”? Forgive me, I’m a 30 year old woman with barely any knowledge in a modern day book technology! Do tell me if things like this already exist??

What do you think? Would you use interactive features in a book? Is it too futuristic?
